BEST POST-RUN EATS

San Francisco is one big restaurant.  However, after a long sweaty
run, you will not be heading straight for the Carnelian Room for grub
or to the Top of the Mark for cocktails.  Post-run dining requires eateries
that are less pretentious and more accomodating to sweat-drenched runners.

Restaurant Name Location Notes
Gordo's Taqueria
San Francisco locations:
- 9th/Lincoln (Sunset/GG Park)
- 19th/Geary (Richmond)
- 24th/Clement (Richmond)
Burritos, Burritos, and more Burritos!  The ideal post-run protein and carb replenishment meal!  I've been frequenting Gordo's for over twenty years.
Pluto's San Francisco locations:
- 9th/Irving (Sunset)
- Chestnut/Steiner (Marina)

Palo Alto:  University Avenue
"Fresh food for a hungry universe."  Huge salads, excellent sandwiches, and YUMMO side dishes (mashed potatoes, gargantuan onion rings, etc) are all the rave at this popular cafeteria style eatery.  Ideal for after your runs in Golden Gate Park, Presidio/Marina, or Palo Alto.  Popular after runs with Presidio RX running group.
Dim Sum:
Yet Wah
Mayflower
Ton Kiang
All in San Francisco (Richmond)
Yet Wah - 23rd/Clement
Mayflower - 27th/Geary
Ton Kiang - 23rd/Geary
Personally, I like dim sum as a post race meal, but many stomachs may not be able to stomach it. Oh well, more chicken feet & pork buns for me.
Crepes on Cole San Francisco:  Cole/Carl (Cole Valley) The name says it all.   Popular for weekend brunch among the locals.  The Kstars running group meets for Saturday runs and post-run brunch here.
Naan n Curry San Francisco:  8th/Irving (Sunset)

Other locations in North Beach and the Tenderloin, as well as Berkeley.  A new 24-hour N&C just opened in downtown SF--for those munchies after your midnight runs!
Guess what's on the menu here.   Though many of you don't do well with Indian & Pakistani food after a run, the food here is excellent and cheap!
Asqew San Francisco:
California/Laurel (Laurel Village)
Chestnut/Steiner (Marina)
Kabobs, Couscous, and Salads.   Cafeteria style.  And to top it off, there's a donut shop next door, for dessert.
Rojoz Palo Alto:  Town & Country Village More Burritos.  Popular after Wednesday night run with the Palo Alto Run Club.
Hobee's Palo Alto:  Town & Country Village, and
Other South Bay Locations
Famous for it's blueberry COFFEE CAKE.  Sandwiches, pasta, and salads.  Casual, Family style restaurant.
